Friday Delivery Program Helper Fridays, 10 AM - 2 PM We are looking for a volunteer who would be able to join our team of people who deliver food to the Vernon housing authority low-income apartments. This person would have to be able to lift heavy boxes, moving food from our supply area to the apartments. They would then assist clients through their shopping experience to get the food they need. This person would have to be good at working with a team, personable with our clients and have a strong back.
Building Maintenance Weekdays, 5-10 Hrs per week (flexible) We are looking for 2-4 people to join our maintenance team here at Cornerstone. These individuals will complete or coordinate tasks such as carpentry, drywall, painting, building upgrades, basic plumbing/HVAC/electrical, coordinate with vendors, etc. to help maintain our buildings, grounds, and equipment. Our goal is to build a team of volunteers that can share this responsibility together so our buildings and grounds can be maintained well without putting this task all on one person.
Social Media Coordinator Weekdays, 5 - 10 hours per week (flexible) Seeking a volunteer with strong proficiency in Facebook and Instagram to assist with social media management. Responsibilities include crafting engaging online interactions, planning and scheduling campaigns, sourcing or creating compelling imagery for posts, and promptly responding to social media inquiries and messages.
Food Cupboard Saturday Volunteers 10:30 AM - 2:00 PM Volunteers are greatly needed for the Saturday food distribution team at the Food Cupboard. You can choose to volunteer on the first, second, third, or fourth Saturday of each month, or any combination of those Saturdays. Volunteers assist by preparing bags of food, including meat, produce, and bread or pastries, for distribution. They also check clients in at the door and hand out the food bags to the families who visit the Cupboard on Saturdays. On average, 90-110 families receive food each Saturday.
Event Coordinator Weekdays, 5 - 10 hours per week (flexible) Cornerstone is a dynamic organization that annually manages a diverse portfolio of more than 50 events. We are seeking a proficient Event Coordinator to join our team, dedicated to optimizing event planning and execution. This role demands a candidate with a strong background in event planning and project management, ensuring meticulous organization, efficient processes, and timely task completion to guarantee the success of each event.
Dishwasher Evenings 4 PM - 6 PM Weekends 10 AM - 1 PM We are in need of multiple people to come help wash dishes at the Cornerstone Community Kitchen. This position will need to be filled at the times listed above which will be before, during, and after the meal that is being served. This person will be responsible for rinsing dishes and running them through the high heat sanitizer before stacking them for drying.
Food Cupboard Help Mondays & Fridays, 9 AM - 1 PM As Needed Join our team at the Food Cupboard as a valuable backup volunteer, ready to lend a helping hand as needed. Your role may involve tasks such as loading and unloading food from the van, sorting food items, packing bags, and any other duties essential to the smooth operation of our pantry. As a backup team member, your support will be needed on Mondays or Fridays. Your commitment will not only contribute to the efficient functioning of our food distribution efforts but also make a meaningful impact in the lives of those in our community who depend on our services. Your flexibility and dedication will be greatly appreciated as we work together to address food insecurity and support those in need.
