I am reaching out to you, dear readers, to ask if you might be able to help us by doing one of a few simple things.
Here at Cornerstone, we have already started planning for the 16th annual Soupfest. One of the major ways we raise money at Soupfest is through sponsorships. If you are a volunteer at
Cornerstone and you work at a company that does sponsorships, can you reach out to me with that information? Many companies, like local banks, are more likely to provide a sponsorship donation if they have an employee connection with the non-profit.
Cornerstone is eligible for employer matching programs. If you work at or are retired from a
company that does matching, any donation you make should be eligible for a match form the company.
Lastly, we appreciate all the time our volunteers donate to Cornerstone and the funds our
donors provide to keep us in operation. We must raise upwards of $80,000 each month to keep the doors open. So, the final thing I would ask is that you share your connection to Cornerstone with your friends and family, in a sense acting as a goodwill ambassador for us. This will help us out when we send our appeal letters out during the year. I’m not asking you to raise money, just awareness. Many people have heard of us but don’t really know what we do or the scope of services we offer.
As an example, I worked for 14 years down the street at Rockville Public Library, and it wasn’t
until I came to work here that I truly understood how much is accomplished by our wonderful
staff and volunteers 365 days a year. It is truly amazing!
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. … If it is to encourage,
then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
